One of my favorite parts of birthday party planning is finding activities for everyone to do that will be fun and exciting! This year, my daughter’s second birthday was book themed.  I already posted snack ideas from her library birthday party and book-related DIY decoration ideas.  Now it’s time to post about the activities!

Library Themed Guest Book

The first activity was to have all the guests sign a guest book of sorts. I like to keep creative records of who came to our parties, and I like to have something tangible to save for my daughter for when she is older. Currently, her favorite author is Sandra Boynton. I was very excited to find that she has written a book called Birthday Monsters! So, I made a cute sign and set out a permanent marker asking all guests to sign a page of the book and leave a message for my daughter if they so desired.

Library Party Guest Activities

Favorite Books Guest Questionnaire

Another activity was for everyone to fill out a little questionnaire for her to read when she is older. I asked simple questions such as:

  • What is your favorite book?
  • What was your favorite bedtime book as a child?
  • What is one book you think Kathryn should read in her lifetime?

We got some great answers from guests, and I hope Kathryn will take some of the suggestions when she is older.  I had everyone put the answers to these questions in a pink bag, the same ones I used to make the goodie bags.

Who Knows These Books Quiz

I also put together a little party game for guests to play before opening presents. Taking quotes from Kathryn’s favorite books, I put together a quiz where guests would have to guess which book each of the quotes came from. The winner of the game got an autographed book! My dear resident toddler artist was allowed to decorate the book Consider Love (another book by Sandra Boynton!) She marked all over the inside and outside of that thing and enjoyed every minute of creating her masterpiece. I’d be happy to share the questions and answers to the quiz, but Kathryn has some pretty obscure favorite books! Just let me know if you want them.

My mom ended up winning the contest, and she has the prize proudly displayed in her house! We also had a runner up prize which was a decorated mini notebook that went to my sister-in-law.

The Group Photo

Lastly, we all took a group photo with funky glasses on.  With hubby and I being eye doctors, we are fans of all things eye related!  I also make sure every year we have a unique family or group photo.  You never know what the future holds, so I always like to capture our current group!  A few of our more spirited guests even wore their cool glasses the entire party.

And that’s a wrap for activities during my daughter’s library birthday party!
