Ingredients

  • 1 can crescent rolls
  • 8 hot dogs—we use turkey dogs
  • ketchup, mustard, and other desired condiments

Instructions

  • First, preheat the oven to the temperature recommended on the back of the crescent rolls.
  • Unroll the crescent rolls and place in 8 triangles on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Add mustard to the crescent rolls.
  • Add ketchup on top of the mustard. At this point, you can add any other condiments you would like such as cheese or a few onions. If you want to omit the ketchup and mustard and just have hotdogs and crescent rolls, that works great too! You can dip these hot dog rolls into any dipping sauce you would like.
  • Place one whole hotdog on top of each triangle.
  • Roll the crescent rolls up around the hotdogs.
  • Bake for the time recommended on the back of the crescent roll can.

Notes

When wrapping cheese in the hot dogs, I've found using the slices of American cheese works well.  It will get a little messy when cooking at the cheese leaks out, but it is so worth it.
Too many jalapenos with their juice will make things a little soggy.  But still tasty!  If you're wanting that extra spice, try dipping the hot dog crescent rolls in canned spicy cheese after they're cooked.  Yum!
These can be frozen for up to 3 months or kept in the fridge for 3 days.  Whenever I make crescent roll hot dogs, my husband gobbles them up before they stay in too long!  When reheating, you can microwave them.  They won't have the same texture as before, though.  If you have the time to reheat them in the oven, this keeps them tasting as close to their first-day taste as possible.
