I prefer fun activities to help my kids develop physically and mentally instead of relying too much on screen time. That’s probably just the teacher in me talking!
One of our favorite things to do is sit and complete different types of interactive activity books. Because my son loves them, and big brother is the best, my daughter is all about them as well. They have a blast, and in return learn a little something. Win-win for all of us!
Since the kids have been really enjoying different types of books, I have been buying quite a few different varieties to try out. Some friends of mine create their own “busy books”, but I really do think these are worth the few bucks without the effort. Here’s my list of the best interactive books for toddlers that are not only a blast but also have educational advantages.
The Best Interactive Books for Toddlers:
1. Highlights Sticker Hidden Pictures
These are oldies but goodies. Your kids will have to find all of the hidden items on the page. These books require attention to detail and focus. Not to mention, there are stickers! I don’t know about your household, but in mine, we absolutely love stickers. These are for around ages 3-4, but my almost-two-year-old gets into them as well. For her, these interactive books allow for some great fine motor skills while placing the stickers on the pictures.
2. First Words Sticker Activity Book
Once again, STICKERS! This is a really great book that once again, reinforces those crucial fine motor skills and visual perception. It can also be used as a coloring book and allows for time to strengthen those first few words with your little one. This was intended to be used with my 2 year old daughter, but my 4 year old son loved it! They ended up working together on it. This is definitely a great go-to book.
3. Press Here
This isn’t quite an activity book, but is definitely worth mentioning. I don’t think you can get any more interactive than this book. This book is so much fun and my kids love reading it. It is a lower-level book as well, so it could be great for pre-k to kindergarten beginning readers. Check out some of their other titles if you love this one!
4. Wipe Clean: Numbers
Other than stickers, the seconded coolest thing is expo markers. My son also thinks he is super cool by being able to show off his amazing number writing skills (even though he doesn’t have much at this point). This is just one of the many different Wipe Clean books. These books are a great way to encourage early writing development and number sense. There are numerous Wipe Clean books out there to check out. For my two year old, though, this book is really just great for coloring.
5. First 100 Words Sticker Book
And again…STICKERS. The kids love it! Just like the other best interactive books for toddlers above, this book is great for both younger toddlers and older ones. It works on those fine motor skills with both of my kids. My 2-year-old benefits from it because she is able to associate verbal words with pictures and my 4-year-old has the opportunity to begin recognizing letters.
6. National Geographic Sticker Activity Book
Here’s my last favorite interactive activity book with, once again, STICKERS. You really can’t go wrong with National Geographic. This one is a little more advanced, geared more towards older toddlers, but my 2-year-old can definitely get into the placement of the stickers. The book has drawing activities, educational advantages, interactive games, and so much more. Not to mention, it is National Geographic so there are a million different titles available to buy if your kids fall in love with them.
We have spent countless hours on these interactive activity books and these are definitely the best, in our opinion. Let us know if you have anything to add to our list of the best interactive books for toddlers!
