How To Make Gift Tags Out of Repurposed Gift Bags and Cards

Creating these gift tags is a simple project that doesn’t need much of a tutorial!

I’ll show you how I made mine along with some pictures.

First, select what parts of the bags and cards will be the best to cut. I liked areas that had full words or lots of cute decorations. I also looked for parts that had solid white on the back of the bag where I’d write who the gift is to.

Then, using my paper cutter, I went to work making square and rectangle cutouts.

After the pieces were all cut out, I picked a location to hole punch each one. I used a basic circle hole punch as well as a small baby foot hole punch for the baby gift tags.

Each gift tag got some string or ribbon, and then they were good to go to put on bags.

Here are some pictures of the final gift bag tags!

Here’s where I repurposed old Christmas cards into Christmas gift tags.

Here are two baby shower bags repurposed to gift tags I’ll use for our next baby shower.  (We go to these ALL the time in this season of life!)

And lastly, here’s an old birthday gift bag that was upcycled to birthday gift tags.  Super cute for the next toddler birthday we have to go to.  (We also go to too many of these!)

Hope you’ve enjoyed this quick tutorial!  Now, go and repurpose all your old gift bags!
