Laundry rooms are either super organized or just an overall mess. Ours, unfortunately, was the latter.
I desperately needed a laundry room organization plan.
There are so many different things you need in a laundry room and we didn’t have any cabinets to hide everything. I will never understand why some laundry rooms are designed the way they are.
No matter what I did, my laundry room always looked dirty, despite how clean I thought it was.
That’s when I decided to create my own wooden storage crates, just to organize all the clutter.
Overall, it didn’t take too much time and the reward was definitely worth the effort.
Making Laundry Room Organization Crates
I started off with some unfinished wooden crates I bought from JOANN’s.
I looked all over the place to find the best look and size and I thought these were definitely the best. They were pretty inexpensive as well when I used a coupon.
The first thing I did was sand down the crates using sandpaper. I then used wood paint in the color I wanted.
To ensure the wood is completely covered, make sure you do a few coats of paint. Otherwise, it won’t look as good.
I then attached the little tan chalkboards I got from Hobby Lobby for the labels. These are my new favorite things.
I also considered buying some small pieces of rectangular wood and painting them with chalkboard paint. However, this was the simpler idea at the time. Either way would look great!
The categories that I organized my laundry goodies in were:
- Light bulbs
- Towels
- Cleaning
- Iron
- Detergent
- Additives
Since I hate seeing my own handwriting around the house, I printed out the words from the computer in the font I wanted.
Using the print-out, I traced the words onto the chalkboard label with black pen. I think it turned out pretty well. You could also use a Cricut to make vinyl letters.
Now My Laundry Room’s Organized!
All in all, I consider it a win just because everyone can no longer see the dirty laundry detergent and all the other storage materials.
